The Challenge

Young persons with disabilities face multiple barriers to active participation and the fulfillment of their human rights, including:

Lack of representation and meaningful participation

Limited access to technology

Restricted access to basic human rights such as education, employment.

GNYPWD was founded following the UN's 2020 Conference of the States Parties (COSP) to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), addressing the need for:

Youth leadership in disability advocacy
Understanding disability as a 360-degree aspect with great intersectionality
Moving beyond just "architectural" accessibility
